Spring Garden Bakery

In my spring semester of school, we were given a joint project, where we had to choose a company, product, etc to photograph, and do a short commercial for. I was paired with the wonderful Alicia Irvin, and a graphic design partner.

For our project, we decided to photograph Spring Garden Bakery, a local Greensboro, NC bakery. Spring Garden Bakery is a quaint bakery with some delicious sweets! From cupcakes and cookies to truffles and more!

New Year, New Goals, New Life Plans.

So I just realized that I haven't updated my blog since November! Holy Moly I'm a slacker!

So.... just to catch anyone that reads this up on my life...

I had the most amazing internship I could possibly ever ask for.

I spent October, November, and half of December down in Birmingham, AL (my dream city)
I was able to work with two unbelievable photographers Jean Allsopp and Becky Stayner, they were so helpful and understanding.

I had a ton of adventures with Jean, we travelled from Laurel, Mississippi to photograph the lovely Erin Napier of Lucky Luxe Couture Correspondence 's adorable home, to Seaside, FL to photograph a cottage for Flea Market Style Magazine & a home for another magazine. We then were able to travel to Tuskegee, AL and Cashiers, NC to work with amazing architect James Carter.

Between all these adventures, I was able to meet my absolutely amazing boyfriend, Nicholas Gregory. He has been my rock for the last few months, I don't know what I would do without him.

I was able to assist Becky Stayner on a few different projects. We did some advertising/ promo photos for Yogurt Mountain, do a few projects for Southern Living Magazine and started on a special cookbook that will be hitting the shelves in the Fall!

So, I am about to go through another 8 week semester of classes, and then I go back to internship! I plan on moving to Birmingham permanently in March with Nicholas, We're trying to buy a house! I couldn't be more excited!!! So, I have my 8 week internship, and then a 10 week summer semester, which is pretty much just an online class that I have to check into every week, and be at school for one day the whole semester, and thats for my Final Portfolio Review!

I can't believe I am going to be graduating college this year. For once, I actually finish something in my life! I finally met my dream man, and I'm as happy as ever!

I am also proud to announce that my best friend, Chelsea Mullis, is getting married this year, and I am so happy to be a bridesmaid in her wedding!

Oh, & since its the new year, I guess I should have a new years resolution? I vow to start being nicer to people :), and start keeping a journal.

xoxo

Condo Time!!

Last week I was able to assist Jean on a photoshoot at the Capri Condo's in downtown Birmingham. The condo was spectacular, it overlooked the whole city, it was an amazing view! The condo was professionally designed by an amazing interior designer named Andrew Brown, who is by far one of the nicest people I have met here so far! Andrew's style is breathtaking, so elegant and luxurious.
Anyways, I was assisting most of the day, moving furniture around, helping out with what I could. At the end of the shoot, I was able to snap a few shots of the patio, my favorite part of the condo, simply because I love outdoor living spaces!

Alabama Gardens

Alabama may just be the most beautiful place I have ever been. So I've recently got the amazing opportunity to move down to Birmingham, Alabama to intern with Jean Allsopp. She is such an amazing photographer that freelances for mulitple magazines and companies around Alabama and the connecting states. Jean allowed me to tag along with her to visit a local doctors home where one of her friends is a professional gardener/ landscaper. Her friend did unbelievably beautiful work, and I was able to take some behind the scenes photos!

Savor Soap©

I saw this beautiful soap at Anthropologie a few weeks ago and immediately knew that I wanted to use it as a self promo piece. I decided to finally use a model *Gasp*, to try and give it a sense of size. I wanted to ensure that the detail in the soap was easy to read, and just as beautiful as the original bar.

Cupcake Wine©

What goes together better than cupcakes & wine? I can't think of anything! I wanted to do a wine ad for my Self Promo # 5, but wanted to steer away from the typical cheese and crackers, boring bottle wine ad. I found this delicious bottle of Cupcake Chardonnay and thought : PERFECT! I got the prettiest cupcake that I could find, some beautiful grapes, and BAM! Made this awesome triptych.

Client #4: a dozen eggs

For my Client #4 Assignement, my Professor Chuck told us to photograph a dozen eggs. We could style the eggs however we liked, the only restraits were that the final image had to be a 12x12 crop, and must include all 12 eggs. I immediatly thought of breakfast and ran with it. I remembered seeing these adorable egg crates from Anthropologie©, so I ran up to Greensboro and purchased some. I figured that brown eggs would look more appropriate than plain white eggs and give it a more 'country' feel. I included the Better Homes and Gardens© Cookbook to give it a definate kitchen setting. I wanted to include a cracked egg with the egg yolk and a wisk to make it seem like baking or breakfast is about to happen. All together, I'm very happy with my image.
