Cans

So I get to my favorite teachers class at 8 am this morning (entirely too early if you ask me) & he immediately gives us an assignment and rushes us out the door. Nothing like being woken up by an ex-autioneer style voice telling us to go out and photograph a soda can. No guidelines, nothing. We were able to use anything we wanted as a prop, etc.
Best Part: The photo's metadata had to read that it was taken no later than 9:25 am.
AWESOME!!

So I'm paired up with Sarah Johnson and Lewis Perkins, and these are a few of the images we came up with:

Easy as ABC

Everyone knows their ABC's, but not necessarily this type of ABC's...
My professor gave us the challenge of photographing text letters, any font, size and color. We had to align them up in Photoshop, and create a collage. Piece of cake? A lot harder than you may think...
I went downtown Asheboro to all of the local shops and restaurants and decided to photograph their signage, which was pretty fun. The next part was pretty difficult though, mainly because I'm not that "computer savvy"...
We had to import all of our photographs into Lightroom, and then individually upload 26 photos into Photoshop, cropping and editing to our liking, then aligning them all on a 8x10" (or 10x8") Canvas. Still seem pretty simple? I think aligning them up was the hardest (& longest) task. But... at least I had fun singing Jackson Fives "123 ABC" with Emma Kepley and Emily Luther. Let's just say that I've been in the computer lab for entirely way too long today!

Self Portrait

So, who doesn't like being in front of the camera? Since I'm always the one behind the camera {besides when I'm being the model for a cheesy 80's style portrait}, I was given the assignment to create a self portrait. YIPPIE! So my current 'profile pic' for my blog is the outcome of my lovely photoshoot... BUT my bestie/roomie & I decided to do something a little more fun. We have an inspiration board in our super adorable living room and decided to use that as our background. Its filled with all sorts of quirky magazine cutouts, inspirational quotes, and southern summer love. We decided to break out a few of our new I <3 Photography stickers and play a little bit!

Rule of Thirds

My first assignment for my Intro Into Digital class was due today. We were given 2.5 hours to photograph any subject we would like and create a layout. The only restrictions that we had were that the photos had to be in a "rule of thirds" format, and that we could have either two horizontal and one vertical, or two vertical and one horizontal. I immediately started thinking of ideas, and since photography runs my life, what better idea that to do equipment? The first photograph is my personal Mamiya C33 twin lens medium format camera. The second photograph is a close up of my ©Epiphanie camera bag and the adorable keychain that came with it. The third photo is my fathers old light meter from his photography business and a Canon AE1 that a dear friend had given me.

Apartment Living

This is my first posting for my new blog "Lindsay Allen Photography". I decided to post this photo because it shows a little piece of my life. I recently moved into West Pointe Apartments with two of my classmates from Randolph Community College. We've completely transformed our apartment into a vintage-eclectic living space. This photograph was shot through an antique mirror, which gave it a hazy look.
