Condo Time!!

Last week I was able to assist Jean on a photoshoot at the Capri Condo's in downtown Birmingham. The condo was spectacular, it overlooked the whole city, it was an amazing view! The condo was professionally designed by an amazing interior designer named Andrew Brown, who is by far one of the nicest people I have met here so far! Andrew's style is breathtaking, so elegant and luxurious.
Anyways, I was assisting most of the day, moving furniture around, helping out with what I could. At the end of the shoot, I was able to snap a few shots of the patio, my favorite part of the condo, simply because I love outdoor living spaces!

Alabama Gardens

Alabama may just be the most beautiful place I have ever been. So I've recently got the amazing opportunity to move down to Birmingham, Alabama to intern with Jean Allsopp. She is such an amazing photographer that freelances for mulitple magazines and companies around Alabama and the connecting states. Jean allowed me to tag along with her to visit a local doctors home where one of her friends is a professional gardener/ landscaper. Her friend did unbelievably beautiful work, and I was able to take some behind the scenes photos!

Savor Soap©

I saw this beautiful soap at Anthropologie a few weeks ago and immediately knew that I wanted to use it as a self promo piece. I decided to finally use a model *Gasp*, to try and give it a sense of size. I wanted to ensure that the detail in the soap was easy to read, and just as beautiful as the original bar.

Cupcake Wine©

What goes together better than cupcakes & wine? I can't think of anything! I wanted to do a wine ad for my Self Promo # 5, but wanted to steer away from the typical cheese and crackers, boring bottle wine ad. I found this delicious bottle of Cupcake Chardonnay and thought : PERFECT! I got the prettiest cupcake that I could find, some beautiful grapes, and BAM! Made this awesome triptych.

Client #4: a dozen eggs

For my Client #4 Assignement, my Professor Chuck told us to photograph a dozen eggs. We could style the eggs however we liked, the only restraits were that the final image had to be a 12x12 crop, and must include all 12 eggs. I immediatly thought of breakfast and ran with it. I remembered seeing these adorable egg crates from Anthropologie©, so I ran up to Greensboro and purchased some. I figured that brown eggs would look more appropriate than plain white eggs and give it a more 'country' feel. I included the Better Homes and Gardens© Cookbook to give it a definate kitchen setting. I wanted to include a cracked egg with the egg yolk and a wisk to make it seem like baking or breakfast is about to happen. All together, I'm very happy with my image.

Silk PureAlmond© Milk

So Monday, our professor James gave us an assignment to go out and find a beverage tear sheet (an ad in a magazine, of a beverage) and reproduce it. I was paired up with my absolute favorite person in my class, Alicia Irivn , and we created this awesome Ad for Silk PureAlmond© Milk.

RCC Commercial Photography Class of 2013

So, as many did not know, last week was National Biscuit and Gravy Week according to The Cooking Club of America, So Shana Jarrett & I decided to ring in this holiday by celebrating with our entire class. We brought it upon ourselves to organize a huge breakfast for our class, which included home made Gravy from our famous Neeses Sausage, biscuits, cinnamon buns, donuts, fruit, croissants, waffles, orange juice, and a few other items. Our awesome professor, Chuck, then decided to break out some Polaroid film that expired back in 2004 for our class to play with for the day. Each of us took head shots and then some goofy pictures and hung them on our bulletin board to "claim our stake", this is a little sample of what our awesome day consisted of!

©EOS Lip Balm AD

For my Photographic Illustration Class, we had to recreate a tearsheet illustration. If you know me at all, you know that I'm never caught without my ©EOS Lip Balm, and the second that I saw this ad in my COSMO Magazine, I had to recreate it!

Baked Mac & Cheese Self Promo #3

For my Self Promo #3, I decided to bake my mothers famous home made mac & cheese. I photographed it at her house, on her beautiful wooden dinner table. I was very happy with my results, and everyone in my class was licking their lips after they saw the picture! My job was complete!

Time Lapse

We had a time lapse project due for Adam's class, I decided on doubling up on a project and photographing my mac & cheese preparation! Mac & Cheese Timew Lapse!

Self Promo #4

So, I'm sure your wondering where Self Promo #3 is, but I went ahead and shot # 4, so # 3 will just have to wait. I decided to do a food shot for my self promo, a Nutter-Butter© Banana Pudding Trifle. I photographed this in studio with Alien Bee's Lights. Thanks to Shana Jarrett for finding me this beautiful Trifle dish at the local antique mart and Tyler Mangus for the awesome mint leaf! Shana Jarret

My Little World

We had an assignment in my digital class where we had to take a 360 panoramic photograph, edit it in Lightroom, then compile it all together into Photoshop, and distort it to create "our little world". I took my photographs right outside of the Photography Department.

Self Promo # 2

For my Self Promo # 2, I decided to photograph a group of bracelets that I have from Forever 21. I photographed this in studio with Alien Bee's Lights. I wanted to give the photograph the feeling that it was a gift,  so I used a BIRCHBOX© gift box and ribbon.

Self Promo #1

I was given an assignment to produce a number of "Self Promos" over the next six weeks. The Self Promos can be anything of my choice, I just have to get it approved by my professor. For my first self promo, I chose to photograph O-L!VE Oil. I produced this image in studio using Alien Bee flashes and fill cards.

Client Assignment #1

Our first Client Assignment was to photograph any kind of vegetable. I went to the local vegetable store and purchased a Spaghetti Squash, a Yellow Pepper and a small onion. I cut into the spaghetti squash and found very quickly that it was a very unattractive vegetable on the inside, so I opted to grill the onion and pepper instead. I love the grill marks that were left on the skin of the vegetables, I feel like they give the photograph an extra something special.

Visual Resume

We had an assignment to create a Visual Resume, we had to do a self portrait, include three portfolio quality photographs, and write a small bio.

Summer Harvest

Summer is my favorite season, especially because my grandparents always plant the most spectacular garden. Their backyard becomes filled with beautiful plants that produce the freshest vegetables possible. I did a mini-shoot with my beautiful cousin, Meagan O'Connor, for a soundslide project, and this was one of the extra images that I had.

Grandfather

I got the chance to be a paparazzi for my Grandfather for a day. He is an avid fisherman.  I wanted a picture that portrayed him, and I think this did very well.

HDR image

High dynamic range imaging (HDRI or HDR) is a set of methods used in imaging and photography, to allow a greater dynamic range between the lightest and darkest areas of an image than current standard digital imaging methods or photographic methods

For my color class, we were assigned to create an HDR image. I picked a photo of my parents beautiful 1969 Firebird

Photographers Choice: Randelman Lake

I am fortunate enough to have a dear friend that owns a personal plane, and was able to take me around Asheboro to work on some aerial photography. This is a view of Randelman Lake.

Bokeh!

Our weekly assignment for Jays class was to shoot Bokeh. What better idea than to give it a southern feel by adding mason jars! Emily was my lovely hand model for this project!

Fabric

For Kevins assignment due last week, we were told to photograph fabric using three different lighting set ups. I decided to use my ultra comfy Anthropologie comforter as my fabric!

Fleugin it!

Last week in large format, we went downtown asheboro to the old courthouse. This is one of the Polaroids that my group took.

Framed

My weekly assignment for Jay's class was called "framed", so I instantly thought of the old antique mirror in my living room as being the perfect frame for my idea. My room mate, Emily and her pup, Max, were my two lovely models.

Stranger Banner

One of my assignments for this week was to take 6 photographs of strangers and put them in a banner, and print it on a giant piece of paper (mine ended up being almost 3 feet!). So my room mate Emily & I went to Downtown Greensboro to see what strangers we could find!

Daniel James

Last Night (Sunday) I was given the opportunity to see a very good friend of mine play at the NC Music Factory's Saloon. Daniel James is an up and coming artist who recently moved from Charlotte, NC to Nashville, TN to pursue his dream of music. Daniel and I have been friends since our Sophomore year of High School, and have continued to stay in touch over the years. It was such a treat to hear him play last night, especially in such a close-knit environment. Daniel had invited a small group of friends from High School, it was wonderful to catch up with old friends and see where we all had landed since the lovely days at Porter Ridge.

Alphabet

Our assignment was to photograph objects that look like letters of the alphabet, to put all the photos in a canvas in photoshop, play with the colors and tones to our liking, and print the image. This was my final image

Mitro Wedding {Another Sneak Peek}

Here comes the bride {Sneak Peek}

On Saturday, I had the opportunity to photograph two of my very dear friends wedding. Will Mitro and Brittney Cope celebrated their 8 year anniversary on Friday, and got married Saturday. This was by far the most beautiful wedding I have ever seen (and I've seen a LOT!)

I'm very fortunate to have had Brittney come into my life, she has been an amazing friend, and at times an awesome mentor.

Cans

So I get to my favorite teachers class at 8 am this morning (entirely too early if you ask me) & he immediately gives us an assignment and rushes us out the door. Nothing like being woken up by an ex-autioneer style voice telling us to go out and photograph a soda can. No guidelines, nothing. We were able to use anything we wanted as a prop, etc.
Best Part: The photo's metadata had to read that it was taken no later than 9:25 am.
AWESOME!!

So I'm paired up with Sarah Johnson and Lewis Perkins, and these are a few of the images we came up with:

Easy as ABC

Everyone knows their ABC's, but not necessarily this type of ABC's...
My professor gave us the challenge of photographing text letters, any font, size and color. We had to align them up in Photoshop, and create a collage. Piece of cake? A lot harder than you may think...
I went downtown Asheboro to all of the local shops and restaurants and decided to photograph their signage, which was pretty fun. The next part was pretty difficult though, mainly because I'm not that "computer savvy"...
We had to import all of our photographs into Lightroom, and then individually upload 26 photos into Photoshop, cropping and editing to our liking, then aligning them all on a 8x10" (or 10x8") Canvas. Still seem pretty simple? I think aligning them up was the hardest (& longest) task. But... at least I had fun singing Jackson Fives "123 ABC" with Emma Kepley and Emily Luther. Let's just say that I've been in the computer lab for entirely way too long today!

Self Portrait

So, who doesn't like being in front of the camera? Since I'm always the one behind the camera {besides when I'm being the model for a cheesy 80's style portrait}, I was given the assignment to create a self portrait. YIPPIE! So my current 'profile pic' for my blog is the outcome of my lovely photoshoot... BUT my bestie/roomie & I decided to do something a little more fun. We have an inspiration board in our super adorable living room and decided to use that as our background. Its filled with all sorts of quirky magazine cutouts, inspirational quotes, and southern summer love. We decided to break out a few of our new I <3 Photography stickers and play a little bit!
